Porcelain Veneers
Get your pearly whites you’ve always dreamed of
Are you unhappy with the appearance of your teeth and would like some options to help give you an amazing smile that is both beautiful and natural looking? Porcelain veneers are a great option for transforming broken, chipped, stained and slightly crooked teeth.
What is a Porcelain Veneer?
Porcelain veneers are a thin ceramic custom-made shell that is made by a skilled dental technician and permanently bonded directly to the tooth. Being made from porcelain they are strong and have a shiny appearance that looks and feels natural. The surface of the porcelain veneer will not discolour as it is made of ceramic therefore will keep a high-quality appearance for years to come.
Are Porcelain Veneers right for me?
Porcelain is a ceramic which has excellent aesthetic properties akin to natural teeth. The ceramic can be stained and coloured to match the surrounding teeth to fit in perfectly with your smile or completely make over your smile changing the shape, size and colour of your teeth!
Porcelain Veneer Process
The process of getting veneers starts with planning. When planning your porcelain veneers, we will take the time and care to make sure we achieve a great result. How you bite together, the general shape and size of your teeth, your smile and gums, the spacing or crowding of your teeth are all important factors to consider in the planning stage. Most of the time the process is completed within two to three visits.
First, a detailed consultation to assess your teeth, your needs, and to plan the procedure (including photographic records). We will use all the information to help craft your smile. At Dentistry On Coolum, we are proud to practice Minimally Invasive Dentistry, which means we stay as conservative as possible while achieving the best results, for your long-lasting beautiful smile.
The following appointment we prepare your teeth in a minimally invasive way and take impressions to send to the laboratory, where your veneers are custom-made to achieve the design we have created. Finally, bonding of your high-quality ceramic veneers.
We may also consider other treatment such as braces/orthodontics first, or treatment with a periodontist (gum specialist) considering how much gums are showing when you smile, or we may provide intermediate/temporary fillings to mimic the veneers which are easier to adjust and change to get the perfect size and shape prior to finalising and bonding the veneer.
The process of planning is extremely important and can greatly impact the long-term success of the porcelain veneers, so patience is key to delivering a gorgeous result that you can smile about!
Advantages of Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are great as they are much less destructive to the tooth than full crowns and have beautiful aesthetics. They can be used to match a single tooth to the remaining teeth or in a full smile makeover situation including veneers on all of the front teeth visible in your smile. Veneers can also be included in a complete mouth rehabilitation, combined with implants crowns or dentures.
